Painting, baking, collecting acorns…

By Mommy24-7 | October 30, 2007

This weekend we visited my parents and had a nice time visiting a farm with all the fall things to do…except it had been raining all day so almost everything was closed. We had fun, got pictures and pumpkins…looked at strawberry cows. Sunday we went to a Halloween event at the local amusement park. We met up with my sil and her daughter…the girls had such a great time. They were adorable in their costumes:)

Then whoo-hoo, treated the rust on our bilco doors and then painted them. It was a lot more effort then I had expected. I didn’t think it would be easy, but ugh my poor arm/wrist/hand and back afterwards. Plus, I did this all with R inside playing so although she was amazingly well behaved…I still couldn’t just get it done all at once. There were millions of peeks at her, questions through the door that I needed to keep shut so the fumes didn’t go inside and snack breaks/tv changes :) The doors look great! I still need to do another coat of paint, but that can wait a few days.

Last night I baked cookies for R’s preschool Halloween party today. My idea of baking cookies is: take dough out of fridge, break apart, put on cookie sheet, bake :) Well, this time I brought out the old rolling pin and cookie cutters and icing. The cookies came out great: pumpkins, acorns and leaves… it was a little scary at first though.

Tomorrow is our H-party for momsclub and I volunteered to bring the acorns. First of all, I had trouble locating acorns, period. So all the gathering took place today. They all came from outside of R’s preschool :) Wouldn’t be that bad if it didn’t take so long to pick them…and you still wind up with some bad ones (especially when being helped by an excited child). Got ‘em home and filled a tub with them…didn’t have enough. Later on we went to the park…none. So after that, we picked B up at work and we all went for some more acorns and then dinner.

We also decorated our pumpkin…couldn’t find a carving kit last minute, but I found this cute pack of three faces to pick and choose from like Mr. Potato head and they just stick into the pumpkin! Perfect! We put a face on two sides of the pumpkin…nice and easy. R loved it.

As much as I’ve enjoyed all the Halloween stuff…I’m so ready for it to come and go. R’s been having the best time in her Strawberry Shortcake costume and everyone loves it. She has so many other costume thanks to my mom:) She wore her cat ears to Little Gym and tonight I bought a long blond wig for my witch costume and she tried it on…. WOW…so adorable!!!

Anyway…busy, busy, moving forward and not enough time for the annoying stuff right now. Good but will bite me in the end.

Happy Halloween!!
