Time for Halloween!

By Mommy24-7 | October 13, 2007

Now that the weather is actually getting cooler it’s feeling more like fall and Halloween time. I’ve had my doorstep decorated for a few weeks now, which is early for me. The light-post has fall leaves on it, mums, pumpkins, gourds, hay and even a HUGE scarecrow that we all made together adorn the house. Complete with fall wreath with removable witch and bats :) and fall leaves on the doormat. So we’ve been ready for fall, it just didn’t arrive till now.

A few weeks ago we went to a fall festival with friends…I’ve known this couple for 12 years and they have 2 kids. Their daughter is almost 5 and R had a great time with her. They got along well and J (my friends girl) was a good “big sister” to R. We ate good “fall” food, the girls rode ponies, jumped on a huge bounce thing, decorated potatoes and played in a few playgrounds, sandboxes etc. J’s little brother, also a “J” is one and adorable…sweet, quiet little guy. He had fun in the sand and also went on a wagon train through a corn maze with the girls, including the mommies. My friend learned some things about corn :P They stayed over and the girls slept in R’s bed. Ever since then, R needs to sleep with the light on… and Mommy sitting in the room. I’m not sure if that’s an improvement from lights out and laying with her most nights till she was asleep. I am getting some reading done while sitting there, since the light’s on :)

The next day after the fall fest, B, R and I went to the water/amusement park. Spent most of the time in the water. I went on the big slide with R….it was so hot that day, it felt great!  Then we relaxed as R ran around and played in the rest of the water area/slides etc. I usually run with her, but she was having a great time and letting me sit with B, so I did that.

Last weekend was sunny and we played outside while my parents visited.  She had so much fun with them and lots of surprises from their vacation out west. She got a racoon among many other things and LOVES him… his name’s Coony.

Getting back to Halloween, we made it to the amusement park again…this time, cool weather and it’s all decorated for Halloween…so now it does feel like summer’s finally over. We stopped at R’s Little Gym first for an open house to show Daddy all the things she loves about it…she even won a few prizes.

After the park, we stopped at a Halloween store on the way home, trying to find R’s costume…no luck. She wants to be Strawberry Shortcake (more specifically Strawberella, from a SS dvd) I did see it online somewhere…must search again. We almost got her a pirate costume. It was adorable, but too small.
