Sick Mommy
By Mommy24-7 | August 14, 2007
As Mommy’s know, when the whole family is sick, Mommy still doesn’t get a break… R’s coughing in her sleep as I type, and B and I are still suffering through this miserable cold. It’s annoying more then anything really. R and I finally got out today and it was so exciting just to get to the post office and grocery store!
We had Mc D’s for lunch ( it’s not a common thing… just really didn’t have anything in the house! and no energy to whip something up out of what we did have:) ) She had apple dippers, not fries and reg. milk, not chocolate. So it was fine. Even when she gets fries and choco milk…no big deal, but today I was all about health.
She continues to wow us daily. She has better grammar then I do sometimes. By the way, I write as I talk here, not for a writing contest/grammar test…so don’t judge me on this! LOL. Anyway, it’s just so cute how she corrects herself all the time. I never remember specifics to share, but tonight she was talking about something she saw on tv and asked me if I saw it. I responded “no honey, I didn’t see it” She said “oh, but I seed it” didn’t hesitate and said “I saw it” It not huge, it’s just a big deal to me and I think it’s precious how my sweet little baby girl is so freakin’ cute! I know plenty of adults who aren’t half as polite and can’t speak half as well as she does:)
Shameless bragging continued…. she’s spelling everything lately. When she’s on a kick, she really get’s into it. It was rhyming at one time, opposites another, knock knock jokes another etc…. Anyway she’s been spelling her name for over a year but now she’s really into spelling other words, reading signs, sounding out words and thinking of all the words she can that begin with a particular letter. It’s really fun…and exhausting.
Of course she’s also into the “why?” and endless torture that why questions can bring…. but as long as I can look at it as fascinating and a learning experience it really is! When I have a migraine or just can’t take it anymore…. then I need to redirect her in any way possible! If we ask her “why” she will answer “because, that’s why” or something similar if she doesn’t feel the need to explain. AARRRRGGGH. That is frustrating. So, in turn I remember my frustration at her quick answers and don’t mind answering her million q’s. After all, how would she learn anything if I kept telling her “because, that’s why”
So… the post office was fun. She mailed 3 cards for me and made a production out of it. It was the sweetest thing in the world. There was a line inside and all we were doing was going to the box inside to mail the letters…the whole line was watching her because she was just the most spirited thing in the quiet post office at the time. She pulled the box down, put the letters in and slowly closed the box….then slowly opened it up again and peered inside. “They’re gone Mommy!” she said proudly and closed the box. Then she did a little dance and sang “they’re gone, the cards are on their way” and I just smiled and giggled as everyone in line did the same:) She just makes the most simple tasks so much fun. Grocery store was thrilling…not really but it was nice to finally restock the house since we’d been keeping our germy selves indoors. R likes to ride on the end of the cart or walk usually but she actually gave in to me and sat in the cart since I felt that would make everything quicker so we could get home to cook dinner. I must remind myself…she’s such a good girl!
Got her Strawberry Shortcake stickers from a vending machine on the way out… she happily decorated her legs on the way home:) Spagetti dinner tonight was yummy and then she was off to bed after a little bit of Sesame Street.
Honestly, her sleep habits are NOT any easier/better… but I’m not complaining.
I would love to write more about the past few weeks…the other wedding, amusement park trips etc, but I need to get working on a photo book I’m making and then to bed. Soon though… I have some cute stories to share.
