Weddings 2007
By Mommy24-7 | August 5, 2007
Well, now it has been 2 weeks since my little flowergirl has walked her famous walk… I thought I’d write about it:) It was a very nice day. HOT between the ceremony and reception, but at least it didn’t rain! I had mentioned previously, I loathe my in-laws and that is an understatement. Lots of mixed feelings. What should have been a totally happy joyful day, was a happy joyful day but it was also a day to be paranoid, watch what I said, and keep R away from certain people while trying to let her have a blast. She didn’t realize, so for that, I’m so thankful. She did have a blast. She had a crown of flowers and looked like a little Princess in her white poofy dress with aqua sash. And she wore her little heart necklace…it fits into a larger heart pendant that I have from my mom. Beautiful. She was more then ready for pics and socializing…which was great…I just had to watch who she was socializing with (as mentioned before…) The bridal party lined up and the music was playing. I was with her in the back until just before her Aunt B and P walked down before her. I ran to the side door to be able to see her go down the aisle if possible and to get her at the front of the church if necessary. She started down and BOOM, she tripped over her dress:( It was VERY long and her shoes were just high enough to keep her from tripping. I felt so bad, but she was more then fine. She got up and held her head high and smiled all the way down the aisle. My parents were saving a seat for me on the aisle 3 rows back, but I had to get through about 6 people in a narrow row to get there. I got there in time for her to look for me and find me but she stayed in the front and was fine with it. The the bride came down… and R was about to come to me… I told her to wait (we had established hand signals beforehand:) ) and she did. As the bride and her long train were still facing forward down the aisle, R was finished standing in front so I had to covertly maneuver myself and her over the brides train, front and center…LOL. Oh well, we were quiet about it and what else can you expect from a 2 year old? Then she sat with me and my parents for the whole ceremony without a peep. She was sooooo good! I was a proud Mommy. Of course, I had stocked her little matching purse with fishies and pretzels….and continuously reminded her that she could have “all the cookies she wanted” at the reception! Still, not a peep from a 2 year old. Impressive.
She was happy to pose for pics, kept her flower crown on and was just a little angel. I followed the limo to the formal pics in a beautiful garden. Again, she thought it was so much fun! Once in the car again, waiting for bride and groom to finish their pics and get to the reception…then she got a little annoyed…but once I told he she could pick the flowers out of her crown (it was made of endless babies breath type flowers) she was more then amused. Flowers were everywhere, but she was content. All that mattered.
She was announced at the wedding with the wedding party and walked in with Daddy and a girl in the bridal party. She thought she was a superstah! And she was. It was at that moment…getting to the table that she saw I wasn’t kidding…I had a cookie waiting for her on her plate and kept them coming. From a Mommy who gives mostly fruit and veggies, this was tons of fun! She really didn’t eat that many throughout the night and did eat a good dinner as well.
R had the best time with my parents…dancing and spinning and just loving it. She did the dollar dance with the bride (Aunt B) and the groom and was so excited. She really liked the way that “abra cadabra POOF” the groom became her Uncle. She’s big into the abra cadabra of many things:) She tried all night to learn the dances with all the adults and did a better job than I could with most. Before her cousin P fell asleep, they decided to play chase and tackle! They were wrestling and knocking each other to the ground. It was hilarious! And of course, in between there were hugs. We stayed until the end and went up to our room…fell asleep around midnight as Daddy went back for the after party.
Only 6 days later we partied the night away at my cousins wedding…I’ll save that for later.

Wait, I want to read about the rest of that weekend AFTER the wedding! I believe there were sandcastles, fish and chips, and oh yeah - a good ‘ol friend from Brooklyn involved.

Oops, meant to say, after you COUSIN’S wedding, not your SIL’s.
