The Rehearsal

By Mommy24-7 | July 26, 2007

Friday was the wedding rehearsal and dinner. R was so excited… she couldn’t wait to be a flowergirl. She had the dress, the shoes, knew all about it… I had to wonder if she was starting to think the day would never come…like it was something we made up so she would behave etc. She looked so cute in her ‘rehearsal dress’ It was actually a gift from her 1st b-day so I was amazed I got one last wear out of it. I put her hair in a french twist and she just looked so elegant… 2 year old elegance isn’t easy to pull off either:)

She was supposed to walk down the aisle with her 16 month old cousin but P (cousin) wasn’t having that. She loves holding R’s hand other times, but not when her Mommy was going down the aisle right in front of them (MOH). So P ended up walking with her mom (B) and R walked all by herself…slowly, elegantly and oh so cute! She’d look back at me and I’d give her the “keep going” sign and she did. She even stayed up there until she realized that P was missing. Well P’s dad B (another B! there are lots in this family) had taken her out to the playground….so that’s where we went too. They had so much fun together and B (BIL) and I didn’t have to sit around while everyone rehearsed.

Off to the dinner. A little background without going into TMI… Remember this is my sil’s wedding. She’s also a B! She’s great, was so happy for her finding a nice guy to marry… but I loathe my il’s. That is at best minimal to describe my feelings. Anyway, I was NOT looking forward to being in the same room with them and being cheery. They live very close yet I have managed to only see them a few times this year….and that was a few too many already. It was an uncomfortable night but we (the 3 of us) had fun nonetheless with everyone else. R ate like she had not eaten the entire day. 3 plates full of fruit, bread with butter, bread with oil, her steak, my chicken plus veggies and 2 cups of chocolate mousse! She sat so well for such a long time. It’s hard for adults to sit so long. P’s dad had taken her to his brother’s house since she was tired…poor thing only wanted her Mommy so she was cranky and awake all night. When Aunt B (the bride) was giving out presents, R was ready to go. I got her to sit a while longer letting her know that there was something for her too:) She was so happy to get a photo book and stickers (wedding themed) to fill in after the big day. She also got a purse to match her flowergirl dress. Then we were on our way… she fell asleep in the car (it was 10:30!)

The wedding day story will have to wait…I need some sleep of my own!
