Bye Bye Toddler bed….
By Mommy24-7 | July 1, 2007
Started the day off yesterday shopping ON MY OWN!!! Hubby hung out with our 2 year old Princess while Mommy ran out to get all the supplies needed to move the Princess into her new twin bed!!
I started the day out right by finding a Cozy Coupe (don’t ask me why but I’ve wanted one for her so badly!!) at a consignment store!!! Whoo hoo!! I actually crammed it into the back seat of my tiny car! Next stop, Target for bedding, bed rail and some extras….always pick up extras at Target. I just can’t seem to get past the dollar section they stick in the front. So I picked up a giant bubble wand and some sponges for fun with paint!! Found a bed rail. Not the one I was looking for but it’s nice. Princess sheet set….it was really the only cute set I could find and figured it would be a good tool to make the bed appealing since she loves her Belle, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty!!
Got allergy covers for the box spring and mattress….one at Target, one at Linens and Things which was my next and last stop. Also got a few more sheet sets…white, pink and blue. Couldn’t beat the 2 sets for $10 at LNT!! Almost makes up for them not sending coupons anymore. They say I’m back on the mailing list now.
After loading up all my purchases I realized I hadn’t eaten lunch….so since I didn’t want to waste time and wasn’t really that hungry, I just stopped at the Starbucks inside Target and got a Raspberry Mocha Frappuccino!! MMMmmm!!! I love the regular Starbucks Mocha fraps….and this was just delicious too!!! Yummy!!! Slurped it down on the way to LNT. Picked up an allergy pillow there too. Back at Starbucks I also picked up a cutey little ladybug cup for my girl and a little coffee mug for me….none of my others fit in my cup holder. It will be good for errands and trips to amusement parks and fun stuff like that.
Anyway….all that shopping took hours…. I was trying to hurry but also it’s just so unusual to have shopping time ALONE that I guess I was kind of savoring it:) It was all for the little one anyway of course…that’s usually how shopping and everything else goes.
Got home and told my girl (R) that we had a big surprise!! We did a whole “bye bye toddler bed” ceremony complete with pictures:) She’ll be 2.5 next month and has been in her toddler bed since she was 19months. It was emotional for ME
Hubby (B) took the toddler bed (converted from her crib) apart and put away which left a “dance floor” for me and R to get some silly’s out in. I love that silly girl!
B got the twin bed out of storage and put it together. Linens were washed and put on the bed…..and the moment was there. She couldn’t wait to see it. She loves the Princess sheets….loves jumping on it and loves drumming on it (from the floor). Let’s hope she loves sleeping in it too!
Let’s just say that she slept with us until she was over one…pretty much the whole time. Then she slept in her crib and with us till 19 months and her toddler bed appeared. Between then and now….she sleeps in her bed, but it’s hit or miss. She always ends up in our bed….was for just an hour or so at one time but lately it was usually the whole time we were asleep or soon after. Her first night in the big bed last night went well….stayed there longer….but still ended up in our room. And for whatever reason she needed to make potty trips…about 3 or 4 during the night and that doesn’t usually happen. It’s usually asleep…and then potty once she wakes up. So that wasn’t fun. Between potty trips, hoping she wouldn’t walk off the end of the high bed (she was used to walking off the toddler bed) and sleeping with her a few times…Mommy’s tired. But, she’s asleep yet again after a fun family day.
I thought I’d start my blog off with what was happening here and now…next time I can intro the family:)
Off to clean, organize and work on biz for my local MOMS Club …I’m on the e-board so I have “work”. Just another usual 24-7 day.
